Crispy Crunchy French Toast

I've said it before and I'll say it again. We love breakfast food! And this french toast recipe is no different. The fun thing about this recipe is you can mix it up by substituting with a variety of cereals. The ones that we like are Corn Flakes and Captain Crunch. We love making this when we have company or cut the recipe in half and make for just the two of us.

CRIPSY CRUNCHY FRENCH TOAST

Here's what you need:
6 eggs
2 cups heavy cream
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
3/4-1 box of cereal- such as Corn Flakes or Captain Crunch (assuming small box)
1 loaf Texas toast bread

Here's what to do:
Pour cereal into gallon size ziplock bag and crush to course meal. Pour in a 9x13 pan or something you will be able to dredge the bread in.

Combine eggs, cream, and spices in a large bowl. It will be custard-like.

Soak each slice of bread in wet ingredients, let it sit a few seconds to coat.

Next dredge in your cereal mix, lightly press onto each side and around the crust.

Place onto a preheated & buttered skillet and cook until nice and golden brown on both sides.

Since this makes a big batch (and you might have company over & want to sit down and eat at the same time) place finished french toast on a cookie sheet and place in warm oven while the rest are cooking on the griddle.

Cover with syrup and fresh fruit. Dig in and enjoy!
